Sunday, February 18, 2018, Chapel Hill, NC – The 1st annual FILM FEST 919 has announced its inaugural dates. The Chapel Hill-based festival will premiere on Wednesday, October 3 through Sunday, October 7, 2018. FF919, founded by Randi Emerman and Carol Marshall, along with Program Director Claudia Puig (former USA Today film critic and president of the L.A. Film Critics Association), will present a wide spectrum of acclaimed feature films. A key element of the festival will be showcasing notable filmmakers and their work, and engaging them in riveting conversations. The festival also plans to feature culinary artists specific to the region of the Raleigh-Durham- Chapel Hill Triangle.

“The Triangle provides a wonderful cultural environment in which to offer stimulating films from around the world,” says co-founder/executive director Randi Emerman. “Regional audiences are hungry for quality cinematic experiences and we developed this festival with this audience in mind.”

Adds program director Claudia Puig: “I’m thrilled to be curating and showcasing a compelling and diverse breadth of narrative features for such an engaged, culturally astute and film-loving audience.”

Last fall, FILM FEST 919 kicked off with a launch party and a special advance screening in Chapel Hill of A24’s hit film, THE FLORIDA PROJECT with writer/producer Chris Bergoch in attendance, followed by a Q & A moderated by Claudia Puig. The film has since gone on to land on multiple top ten lists, as well as receive many accolades and awards, including a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for Willem Dafoe.
